5 Ways to Get Out of a Writing Rut

Written By: Book Marketing International - Jun• 10•15

1. Identify your problem – is there a particular scene that’s giving you problems? Is your plot not working? Write out your goals and see if you’re meeting them.
2. Read it again – maybe you just need to fall in love with your idea all over again. Go back to the beginning and remember why you’re writing this book.
3. Write in a different location or at a different time – maybe you just need a fresh perspective.
4. Take a break – sometimes the best thing you can do for your writing is to walk away. Go to the gym. Play with the dog. Cook a fabulous meal. Have a ten minute dance party.
5. Talk it over with a writer friend – sometimes saying the words out loud may spark creativity and help you get back on track.
